Apocalyptica Numerica Veterans Arena Concert reviews
What an adventure!
We got tickets to see Apocalyptica at Petersburg VA's Fort Lee. We arrived at about 2:30 as the gates opened at 2:00. It was a free concert, but we opted to purchase tickets for VIP front row seats. While waiting for the show to start, I checked Facebook and saw a local TV station's post about severe thunderstorm warnings in our area until 9PM. The opening act was brought on early to kick off the show, as Apocalyptica's bus had broken down and Chevrolet had to send a truck to transport the band and their gear. After the opening act's performance, Apocalyptica arrived just as the sky started to look threatening. Ft. Lee decided to delay the concert due to the impending storm center expected by 5PM. They provided shelter in the gym for the attendees to wait out the storm or return to their vehicles. The storm passed by 6:00, and the stage was cleaned up, with towels distributed to wipe down chairs. Apocalyptica took the stage and delivered an impressive performance despite the rain delay. The well-handled evening saw most fans waiting out the storm rewarded with an electrifying show from an appreciative Apocalyptica. Their setlist included a mix of old and new songs, as well as some favorite covers. I had previously seen Apocalyptica years ago and was amazed by their enhanced stage presence and ability to engage the audience, getting everyone dancing and singing.
